History

  • 1993: Colorado Department of Human Services establishes Family Resource Centers Program as a 5-year pilot public-private initiative to help vulnerable families
  • 1998: State program sunsets; 21 existing family centers form the Family Resource Center Association as a strategic statewide network
  • 1999-2000: Family Resource Center Association obtains nonprofit status and hires first Executive Director
  • 2001: State partner for family resource centers in legislation moved to Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment
  • 2008: FRCA establishes new statewide Healthy Living program with support of The Colorado Health Foundation
  • 2009: FRCA strengthens its statewide Family Development and Self-Reliance program by training 120 family development workers in the evidence-based Family Development Credential.
  • 2011: FRCA significantly expands its Healthy Living program with the support of The Colorado Health Foundation
